Thursday Thirteen - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows MOVED

  1. Probably the biggest question for fans of the series revolves around the fate of its main character, Harry.

  1. I am loving your predictions! #6 is an excellent point. And I agree that it will have to take much longer than a school year to get everything done, and I believe that Hogwarts will reopen, but if Harry goes back it will only be to search for the horcrux or communicate with the Order.
I’m of the belief that Harry will die, I’ve kind of reconciled myself to it. But Ron dying!! I hope not! I don’t think they’ll be able to keep Ginny from joining the order.
    We shall see very soon!

  2. What a great list of prophecies! As far as the “late-in-life” magician, I’m laying my bets on the Hogwarts caretaker, Filch.

I want to add my own prediction to the ones listed above: my husband and I have a theory about something that might happen in this last book (he came up with the bare-bones idea after the 3rd book came out, and nothing that has happened since has gone against it).

What about the time-turner? It was introduced with much fanfare in the 3rd book, and basically hasn’t been mentioned since! So, here’s our idea: At the end of Book 7, Ron is going to go back into time _and_become_Dumbledore_!!!

    Crazy? Consider:
-Every character that is introduced has had a physical description including eye color–except Ron.
-The only two characters we have met who are geniuses at wizarding chess are Ron and Dumbledore.
    -Both love muggle candy.
    -Both have red hair.
-Dumbledore came out of nowhere with a full treatise on the uses of dragon’s blood; his history prior to that point is a complete mystery.
-Handily, Ron has a brother in the dragon business and could spend a month in the field to get his credentials.
-Dumbledore spent the first 6 books leading Harry, Ron and Hermione around, feeding them useful information and giving them access to odd tools–he always “trusted” that they would put the pieces together and do the right thing. Could it be that he had foreknowledge instead?
-If they are the same person, then why did Dumbledore let Snape kill him? Depending upon Rowling’s views on the paradox of time travel, it is possible that the history of Voldemort has been happening over and over again, each loop tweaked to be different from the last, until the right solution is discovered that makes things turn out right in the end. Perhaps for it to all work, Dumbledore _has_ to die by Snape’s hand in front of Harry.
-And where did the time-turner come from? All we know is that they are rare; we do not know whose it is or how they got it.

I can picture a teary scene as Ron gets ready to go back over 50 years in time, leaving Hermione to go into the future without him (but with the sentient picture of Dumbledore); will they elope first and try to have a baby?

We’ve got our copy pre-ordered; we can’t wait to get our hands on it!

  3. Hi Emily …..

I love your theory .. unfortunately it was already ruled out on MuggleNet.com based on info from JK Rowling

“Dumbledore is not Harry/Ron from the future.”

  4. I´m so excited, can´t wait to get the book between my fingers. Love your predictions and theories.

    Happy TT!

  5. I’m counting on Snape proving to have been acting as a double agent on Dumbledore’s instructions and to have killed him on the same ground (because he’d been poisoned by drinking from the bowl. Waiting to find out the identity of RB (Sirius’s brother, Regulus!!)

I’d sort of like Harry to fall for Luna Lovegood; I absolutely love her….

  6. Good predictions

But, but… I’d love to see this end the way this guy suggests.

  7. wow … lots of possibilities, huh? :)
    great list!

    happy TT

  8. I did the same T13 as you. Some of our predictions are basically the some, some are different. I enjoyed reading yours. Come visit mine!

  9. What a great idea to have the Dursley’s experiencemagic first hand. I am trying not to put too many presupositions in place before reading Deathly Hallows, I just can’t wat.

  10. Ron is not toast. It was the one thing we were promised by Jo Rowling.

    Great list!

  11. I’ve got my copy pre-ordered! I wanted the British version but for some reason that had to be preordered a day earlier and I missed it. By yesterday I could only order the American one. So stupid, especially since I’m not even in the US.

  12. That’s a great piece you’ve written - it really whetted my appetite. I can’t wait to read the new book. Thanks.

  13. Excellent post and really thoughtful comments about what you believe to happen.
I posted a list of predictions as well; if you have the time, stop by!
Your HP party sounds much more fun than being at the store…
    Have a great read!

  14. Love your predictions. I am thinking that I need to re read the last few books and then do the last one.

    It is all very exciting.

  15. Ohhhh I just can’t wait any longer!!! UGH! The suspense is killing me!!!

  16. I doubt Harry will die - but who knows anything is possible. I think Hagrid or one of the Weasley parents might die — the “parental” characters seem to be the ones dying previously, leaving Harry to fend for himself with the help of his friends.

Snape don’t know - probably turn out he’s good, but *shrugs* who knows. If (and he probably did) he loved Lily - then why hate Harry so much - after all Harry is Lily’s son too (not just James who Snape totally disliked).

I hope Hogwarts reopens - it would make sense that it does - after all a hopeful future for the next generation in spite of whatever painful things happen during the war with Voldemort.

It is so hard to WAIT! hehehe :)

  17. I’ve been thinking a lot about Neville. Remember that the prophesy could have either been Harry or Neville. I still think Neville will turn out to have a big part in Voldermort’s downfall. Especially since everyone’s discounted him now.

And I think Neville and Luna should be together. I think they’re precious.

Happy TT. :) Mine is up here

  18. Enjoy the book. I’ll be reading something different. Happy TT.
