Ritual Bath
Here’s another post for the Witch in You project I am working on, directly from the pages of my original Book of Shadows. May it bring you blessings, joy, and inspiration. Blessed Be. Lady Rose
Ritual New Moon Bath Recipe
Mix together in a large glass jar: 2 cups rain water, 2 cups spring water, 2 cups nearest running water (stream, ocean, river, etc.), 2 tsp rue, 1 tsp myrrh, 1 handful sea salt.
Add a cup of this mix to a freshly drawn tub of warm water.
Purpose: for renewal and cleansing of the spirit and aura, wash away the old, new beginning, spiritual reawakening.
Spiritual Bath Method
(Note: shower or bath first to remove every day dirt, then clean the tub and draw a fresh bath.) Religous or spiritual baths are baths wich are used ot have a difinite spiritual effect on the person taking them. These baths are prescribed to solve problems, promote well being, open up one’s senses to the spiritual realm and various other purposes. The effects may not be immediately apparent to the person but may take time to reveal themselves (i.e. in a dream, inspiring thoughts, healing, less stress, etc.)
A spiritual bath must be taken in a specific manner if it is to have the greatest benefit to the person for who it is prescribed.
First start with a clean tub, as a final rinse use a mixture of sea salt and water. Fill the tub about half full of luke warm water, add the ritual bath ingredients in to the water while the water is still running. Once the tub is half full, turn off the water and stir with your hand three times clockwise (visualize the purpose of the bath and feel your intent being mixed with bath water, can also use a prayer or affirmation to state your intent).
Do not use soap, bubbles or other ingredients. Set a timer for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
Enter the water, nude, and immediately immerse the whole body, including the hair. While in tub focus, meditate, or pray on the purpose of the bath as your use your hands to pour water over yourself, covering your whole body until the time has elapsed.
When leaving the tub wrap your hair in a towl and don a robe or wrap your body in a large bath towel, do not dry yourself in any way; let yourself air dry.
Spend some time relaxing, i.e. sip some herbal tea, meditate, read an inspiring book, if it is evening retire for the night. Keep a journal handy to jot down any dreams, thoughts or new ideas that you have for the next several days.
Note: after a spiritual bath your should not bathe or wash your hair for 24 hours.

I used to practice such rituals regularly. Presently, Atlanta is in the middle of a water crisis and anything more than a two minute shower is out of the question.
I’ve found that a similar ritual with a bowl of rain water and a clean cotton cloth or in a clear pond is just as valuable.
Great suggestion for an option. Thanks Thomas.
