Pagan Ritual Thursday - Beltane - May 1st - Excerpt from a 1970s Book of Shadows

Excerpt from Beltane Ritual from Lady Rose’s original Book of Shadows (1970s)

Priest and Priestess stand at the altar (invocation pose), lead circle members in chant - repeat 3 times; (members circle around the circling and leaping on riding poles or brooms around the circle while chanting):

“Round about the circle go.
Here we jump, high and low.
Silvery moon and goden sun.
Summers coming, spring is done.
Work we magick on this night.
Lend your powers unto this rite.
Lovely Goddess of the Moon.
Heat of the Sun that comes at noon.”

P. crowns the Ps. with a wreath of flowers, Ps. crowns the P. with a wreath of leaves, they exchange a kiss.

All members come up to the altar one at time and toss a bit of incense (i.e. sandlewood and\or rose petals) onto the thurible, saying: “I bring an offering to the Lord and Lady in this new season.”

Symbology:
Leaping\Jumping - make things grow.
Invoking Sun (warmth) and Moon (waters) - make things grow.
