There are a variety of classes to choose from throughout the day at Womon Gathering and sometimes there are new classes added or changes made to the schedule (announcements are made at meal times and signs are posted on the dining hall door). We decided we didn’t have to fill every single minute of our time and focused on just a few classes that we really wanted to take - a drumming class and the three levels of Essential Reiki.
Thursday evening after dinner - Drum with the Flow Part I Instructor: Beverly Nadleman. This class was a good introduction to the basics of drumming - how to create various tones, how to hit the drum properly with your hand. We had brought small drums, but the instructor was teaching how to use big drums and had plenty on hand for those who needed to borrow one. It was a bit more involved then I had anticipated, but everything was explained very clearly and we got to practice several different kinds of rhythms (3 beat, 4 beat, and a 5 beat and a really fun one where for one beat you hit the drum of the person next to you). The Reiki classes we planned to take overlapped with Part II of the drumming class that was scheduled the next day, but having the introduction class was just right for us and a great way to start off our four days at Womon Gathering.
Mama Kelly: I really got into this class, more than I had even anticipated. So much so that I wound up with bruises on the underside of 2 of my fingers. Now this didn’t distress me at all, I bruise fairly easily. What surprised me was how quickly they resolved as generally bruises hang around for a week or more. Within 2 days they were completely gone and I give full credit to all the energy work Lady Rose & I were doing with our Reiki classes.
Classes held Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday mornings - Essential Reiki I, II, and III Instructor: Francena Marie Hancock (apprenticed and taught with Diane Stein). From the start of the first class we both knew that learning Reiki was exactly what we needed at this time in our lives. It was even more meaningful for us to be taking the class from a Reiki master who also has a background in wicca. Reiki is a gentle and powerful healing tool that we are able to bring home and use for ourselves, our families, and the Earth. All three levels and attunements are given during the course of the weekend. Our homework is to practice self reiki each day for at least 40 days. It was also recommended that we get the book Essential Reiki by Diane Stein (my copy should be arriving in the next day or two).
Mama Kelly: I already received my copy of Essential Reiki and gave it a quick read through. I am looking forward to reading it in more depth, especially to start exploring how to “program” a crystal using Reiki symbols. As I’ve mentioned in other posts I have been a bit lax about using my Reiki self-treatments but I have had great success with my younger daughter’s headaches.
Brief summary of Reiki basics: Reiki is life force energy and can do no harm. The energy goes where it is needed, trust the spirit of the person to direct and use the energy in the way that is right for them. We are all healers, what the attunements add is to open the person to be a channel for even more of the life force to pass through them (each attunement opening wider and wider) by placing the Reiki symbols in the auric filed.
In Essential Reiki all three attunements are given in the same weekend (rather then weeks or months apart as in other Reiki traditions). Each student works at the Reiki I level, and practices learning the symbols and moves on to working at the Reiki II level when they are ready, and then working and practicing at level II until they are ready to begin working at the Reiki III level.
***************
Mama Kelly and I will be practicing daily self Reiki and with our families, and when we get together for our monthly visits we will do Reiki for each other. It is our plan to be able to teach Reiki in the not too distant future and to also be able to hold regular Reiki share get togethers. Reiki is a positive asset all on it’s own but it is also a complimentary tool that can be used with other forms of healing, magic, and wiccan or spiritual practices. We will keep our readers informed and updated as our work progresses.
Mama Kelly: I am looking forward to the energy work that Lady Rose & I will be adding to our visits. I want us to pick up some kind of small globes so that we can use it as a visual to send Reiki healing to the earth itself.
There was one other class we were going to take - but as posted in our Summary of Saturday at Womon Gathering, for some reason we had it in our heads the class started at 2:45 pm when it actually started at 2:00 (even after both of us had looked over the program several times). The class was Mystic Maps (instructor: Eclipse Fey) - a mystic’s appraoch to charting your course across the psychic seas of your hopes and dreams, using divination tools, psychic skills, and energy building techniques. We took it as a sign from the Goddess, spirit guides or who\what ever that we ended up where we needed to be instead of the class. There is always next year, and we will be able to explore different classes and experiences.
Bright Blessings, Lady Rose and Mama Kelly

the lady I go to for massage practices reiki…she’s great! Glad you guys had a good time at your gathering. It’s nice to get away sometimes!
I am a Reiki Master and the woman who did my Reiki I and II training did her master’s course with Diane in Florida and absolutely loved it. The book is great and has really assisted me in my practice.

thank you both for stopping by and commenting
Lynda - I’m enjoying the book by Diane Stein and I agree it is definitely as asset. Though I do have a couple of questions. Would it be possible to email you?
