Mama Kelly has posted about her accomplishments in getting more organized and clearing away the clutter, and she is keeping me on track to do the same.  We are both on a mission to be junk free, more organized and filling our homes with the spirit of wellness, joy, and blessings.

My approach to sorting is to have four piles - love it, use it, mine, donate\recyle it, and once I have a little space clear I can begin to put the items I’m keeping in their permanent spot and get organized.   I realized to help me make a decision about which pile something goes in and to help let go of some items I keep but don’t really have a good reason to, I can use a visualization and relate the four piles to the four aspects of the Goddess.

  • Maiden - love it - only keep items that bring joy, playfulness, fond memories.
  • Mother - use it - only keep items that are useful for myself, family or home, that nurture us and help maintain our home and bodies.
  • Queen - mine! - items that have meaning to me and I will not part with, that are part of my path and are touchstones for spiritual work, such as my crystals, tarot cards, some of my books
  • Crone - Donate\recycle - in order for new growth and rebirth, the old must be return to Mother Earth or clear away to make way for the new.

This last category was probably the most helpful category for me because so much of my stuff I held on to simply because it wasn’t trash and I just can’t waste things. But I have found several organizations and places that I can donate my things to do.  This will help me a lot to release some things I held on to simply because they were not trash, but that I have no use for and no room to store them either. Knowing that the item is going to be put to good use or at least recycle helps me to get rid of a lot more stuff.
